Why, and how to avoid it
-
Simply put;
there is a choice, either it is random or it isn't,
personally i prefer the latter, but it seems as if our culture
believes otherwise.
-
A reasonable explaination for this "accident conciousness" is that in the evolution from the dark
ages through to the industrial revolution, science came about and started declaring
that matter could be understood in terms of various components and everything was reduced to units.
Units of a big machine, in which there was no need for a spiritual and or moral dimension.
-
The religious institutions in the day had a lot of power and peoples need for some connection with a higher guidence was in place. (No need to mention The Inquisition and other such, uh messianic fervor)
What we have today is the extremes of pleasant and unpleasant associated with a technological cultural revolution.
Does the modern nasties compare with the primitive ones ? Who knows? It is the way it is.
- So what is being suggested is that one has a deep conditioning pertaining to a way of seeing life and of viewing reality.
-
Where is this going? An attempt to point out the subtle effect of believing in the random universe, and how it effects your sense of meaning, purpose or just state of mind full stop!
- So it is not an accident! There is a realisation accross the board, that virtually all conventional authorities, educational institutions and your own Ma and Pa inadvertently subscribe to a meaningless biological event whirling uselessly through time and space.
You know it's not true, and giddy with the conviction that you want to go about implementing the insight in your own life. But how? The not so secret secret is, your own mind!
Yes you were probably anticipating that one, you're not silly. Anyway, lets come and see what the ancient wisdom (well...this author anyway,) has to say about the mind.
